After a successful launch party, Laurel TV now has an active corps of volunteer, citizen-journalists on the street. Communications Director Audrey Barnes and Media Coordinator Joyce Jackson talk about how vital the volunteers are to the community-focused television station . The volunteers share their experiences as new recruits and talk about the opportunities now available at Laurel TV.

Rather than heading to the beach for Spring break, a group of Laurel High School students spend the day training to be journalists at Laurel’s public access television station in the Municipal Center. Communications Director Audrey Barnes says she hopes to make the mini-media camp an annual tradition.

Laurel Mayor Craig A. Moe hires Audrey Barnes, a seasoned, Emmy-award winning journalist with more than 30 years of experience as Communications Director. Barnes will be in charge of coordinating media coverage for the entire city, expanding the City’s social media and community outreach, and revamping the City’s public access television station.
