Laurel TV Soars during the 2022 Awards Season Plus how to connect with us

The Laurel TV team continued its winning ways during this year’s television industry awards season --bringing home two international Telly Awards, and two Communicator Awards from the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts.

Communications Director Audrey  Barnes says the Department earned the awards for its COVID-19 documentary and “Take the Shot Laurel” vaccine PSA.  Reporter Jamal Williams won a Telly for his story on a local racing phenom.

City of Laurel seeks input about new Podcast Studio

 

 

After months of planning, Laurel TV is excited to announce that our Podcast Studio is nearly complete.

 

And now we want to hear your ideas on how to use it.

 

We’ve put together a brief survey.  Please take a moment to share things like the days and hours that appeal to you, the types of podcasts you want to create and listen to, and your thoughts on a grand opening event.

Char Freedberg

Production Assistant

Char Freedberg joined Laurel TV in May 2023 as a production assistant. She graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in May 2022 and worked at a variety of journalistic publications, including the PBS NewsHour, Washington Jewish Week and Voice of America's Student Union. In her free time, Char likes to watch anime, voice act for some YouTube channels, sleep, sing, dance, act and watch TV.

Social Media Specialist

Carmen Cano is the Social Media Specialist for the Communications Department. Hailing from Ohio, Carmen ran the social media for Ohio’s largest free art and music festival and was excited for the opportunity to move to the DMV and work with Laurel TV. You’ll see her snapping pictures around town and at events, so make sure you say ‘Hi!’
